May is one of the loveliest times of year in Champagne. Spring is in full swing, the vineyards are green and fresh, and the days are starting to feel comfortably warm.

Daytime temperatures typically sit between 15–20°C, with cooler mornings and evenings. While many days are sunny, the weather can be changeable, and occasional light rain showers are possible.

We recommend bringing light layers, especially for the evenings, and a light jacket or shawl just in case. Comfortable shoes are also a good idea, as many areas around Épernay and the vineyards involve walking on cobblestones or gravel.

Overall, May offers mild, pleasant weather that’s ideal for exploring, long lunches, and celebrating outdoors when conditions allow.
